Know your history
It’s crazy to think that in the year 2020, freestyle BMX will be in the Olympics. A past time born in the back streets of California back in the mid 70’s, which grew around the world as a way to escape the bullshit of team sports and associated mentalities is now ‘owned’ by a ‘governing body’ the UCI. An organisation that has barred the likes of Mat Hoffman and Dennis McCoy from ensuring BMX is represented by riders. Regardless of the inane politics, BMX will always be done by those that love to ride, not for the medals or fame, just simple pleasures. So the future of BMX is looking rad. Just like the history of BMX is rad, this found footage from 1976 is all time and testament to everything BMX was and will be. Go hit some curbs!
